Many of our organisations are reporting a strange but welcome side effect of an otherwise horrific crisis – that we have been able to respond with surprising agility. Decision timelines have shortened, work habits have changed and technology usage has increased (or modified). Indeed, generally, people have been willing to be more adaptive and/or responsive. Certainly enhanced levels of collaboration have been evident right throughout our economy. However, history shows us that this is actually a relatively common response to a crisis. The next challenge will be to determine “how to keep the good stuff” that emerged from the economic, social and behavioural shocks.
